Gencoa manufacture externally chamber flange mounted rectangular cathodes in a wide variety of sizes from 40mm to 300mm target width to 4m in length. As standard each external mount cathode has a built-in anode and earthed rear flange plate with water cooling. The magnetrons are the most industrially robust on the market with the use of M8 screws for target clamping and a tapped bar made from a low friction bearing material to receive the target clamping screws.

All cathodes as standard are supplied with a water cooling diaphragm that offers high power of operation without the need to break a water seal during target change-over. The diaphragm can be easily removed should direct water cooling of the target or backing plate be required. |

Gencoa have recently introduce the 'zero-height' anode. This novel design allows the plasma electrons to be collected efficiently by the anode, but prevents a line of sight from the target surface to the anode. This greatly reduces coating build-up on the anode and prevents electrical shorts during extended continuous running times. There are also a number of anode types and gas injection options available.

Externally mounted cathodes can also be manufactured as double magnetrons with integrated reactive gas bars and fibre-optic monitoring. |
