Gencoa provide sputter based solutions for the vacuum thin film deposition industry. Gencoa's manufactured components provide enabling technology for many state of the art thin film coating processes. Gencoa have repeatedly provided better solutions for customers in most PVD areas - semiconductor, web, precision optics, rapid metallizing... (see the solutions section of the site for case-studies).

 In the Solutions part of the website there are both industry specific products and case studies. Many companies 'claim' to be World Leaders in Magnetron Sputtering. In the Solutions section we demonstrate and document how we achieve more for our customers and in most cases when our competitors have not been able to provide the solution.

The main product lines from Gencoa are:

 Process monitoring and reactive sputter gas control systems
 Linear plasma (ion) sources

Gencoa's key selling point is the understanding of the process environment and the optimisation of the products for different customer needs.

 

This understanding is a result of heavy investment in R&D (15-20% of turnover) and many years experience of the key staff members.

Advanced software tools have been procurred or developed in-house. The magnetic models are developed using commercial FEA type software and this is backed-up by in-house software for process efficiency prediction.

Gencoa have 5 dedicated process development / testing systems for 5 market sectors:  

dual magnetron plasma  Large area coating of drop-in external mounted cathodes
 Large area caotings of single and double cantilever mounted cathodes
 Functional coating of complex shapes and flat optics
 Static deposition onto wafer type substrates from circular cathodes
 Flexible large circular chamber to accommodate various sizes / configurations.


There are 5 design engineers using ProEngineer 3D modelling software with the ProMechanica analysis extension. All the work is progressed through 'Windchill' a digital data management solution for both CAD data and associated administration tracking. The ProjectLink extension to Windchill allows customers direct access to their project information, drawings and other documents on the Gencoa server.

Gencoa models its business plan to respond to customer and market needs and your success drives our business growth and technology development.

Gencoa operates rigorous quality control proceedures. Systems are in place to plan, track and validate each parts of the magnetron manufacturing process. Final assembly is completed in clean-room conditions. Prior to despatch a series of QC checks are performed on all products:

  • Helium Leak check <10-8 mbar l/s
  • Withstand voltage check - 5kV DC, 2.5 kV AC
  • Optional plasma burn-in test
